Global Muslim Scholars Issue Jihad Fatwa to Support Gaza and Resist Israeli Occupation

International Union of Muslim Scholars urges global Muslim action, condemns silence, and calls for an Islamic military alliance to counter Zionist aggression.

Watan-In a notable move that coincides with the escalating Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the International Union of Muslim Scholars has issued an urgent fatwa calling on all Muslims to engage in jihad to support Gaza and to resist the Zionist occupation by all available means.

The fatwa comes in response to repeated appeals from the people of Gaza and Syria, who have urged the Islamic nation to take immediate action following the occupation’s violation of the ceasefire and its continued perpetration of horrific massacres against unarmed civilians.

The Union’s Ijtihad and Fatwa Committee affirmed that supporting the resistance in Gaza is a religious duty, and that providing it with money, weapons, political, and international backing is an obligation upon all Islamic and Arab states. The fatwa stressed that official silence and failure to provide assistance is “a grave crime and a betrayal of the trust of leadership,” placing responsibility on the governments of Muslim countries for the lives lost daily in besieged Gaza.

Fatwa Demands Action: No Liberation Without Force, No Tolerance for Silence

In unprecedented language, the fatwa called for the formation of an Islamic military alliance to deter the aggression and protect the ummah from Zionist encroachment, affirming that the liberation of Palestine can only be achieved through force. It also unequivocally forbade all forms of normalization with the occupation, urging governments that have normalized relations to “renounce this disgrace” and fulfill their duty in supporting the Palestinian people.

The fatwa also issued a direct appeal to the scholars of the ummah, urging them to speak the truth openly and pressure official regimes and armies to play their role in defending Gaza, emphasizing that silence is an unforgivable betrayal in the eyes of both religion and history.

The Union’s fatwa was widely welcomed by activists and social media users, who regarded it as an honest voice reflecting the conscience of the ummah at a time when Gaza is being annihilated in full view of the world. Thousands of users expressed full support for the content of the fatwa, stressing the need to turn words into concrete action on the ground.

These developments come at a time when Gaza has become an open field for killing and destruction, with hospitals, tents, and shelters not spared from Zionist bombing—intensifying the pressure on the Islamic world to act.
