U.S. Ambassador to Israel Conditions Humanitarian Aid Access to Gaza on Hamas Signing Agreement

Watan-The new U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, on Monday called on Hamas to sign an agreement with Israel to allow aid into war-stricken Gaza.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Huckabee said:“We ask Hamas to sign an agreement so that humanitarian aid can flow into Gaza to the people who urgently need it.”

He added:“Once that happens, and the hostages are released — which is extremely important to all of us — we hope that humanitarian aid will then flow freely.”

Israeli War Crimes and Genocide in Gaza

While U.S. officials, including Ambassador Huckabee, frame the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza as something contingent on Hamas’ decisions, international human rights organizations and legal experts have repeatedly pointed to Israel’s direct responsibility for war crimes and acts of genocide in Gaza.

Since October 2023, Israel has waged a relentless war on the Gaza Strip that has resulted in:

• Over 35,000 Palestinians killed, the vast majority of them women and children.

• The systematic destruction of hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques, and UN facilities — all protected under international humanitarian law.

• The use of starvation as a weapon of war by blocking food, water, fuel, and medicine from entering Gaza.

• Massacres in so-called “safe zones” that Israel itself directed civilians toward.

• The targeting of journalists, medical workers, and humanitarian convoys, even those coordinated with international agencies like the Red Cross or UNRWA.

Legal experts, including those presenting to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), have accused Israel of committing acts that meet the legal definition of genocide, particularly its intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group.

While calls for Hamas to agree to aid corridors are repeated in Western media, they often ignore the root of the crisis: Israel’s siege, bombing, and ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza, all under the protection of U.S. diplomatic and military support.
