Watan-The United States received information from officials in Israel about the massacre committed by the occupation army in the city of Rafah, which resulted in the death of 45 martyrs after the bombing of displaced persons’ tents.

ABC News reported that an American official said that “shrapnel or something else” from the strike caused a fuel tank to ignite, noting that “the tank was 100 meters from the strike site.”

He added that the fuel tank “caught fire and caused the massive blaze” that destroyed the displaced persons’ tents.

He indicated that the United States has no information to confirm or dispute the (Israeli narrative) and that it is in the process of understanding what happened, waiting for Israel to conduct its investigation and determine the subsequent action.

The official also mentioned that the United States does not see what is happening in Rafah as a major ground attack that it had warned about repeatedly.

The Israeli occupation army stated that it is investigating the “circumstances of the attack,” claiming that it regrets any civilian casualties.

In turn, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden demanded that Israel take all necessary precautions to protect civilians after the airstrike that resulted in 45 martyrs.

A spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council said: “Israel has the right to pursue Hamas, and we have been informed that this strike killed two senior Hamas terrorists responsible for attacks against Israeli civilians.. but as we have made clear, Israel must take all possible measures to protect civilians.”

He added that the U.S. government is “effectively engaging” with the Israeli military and others on the ground to assess what happened.

Netanyahu comments on the Rafah massacre

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the strike as a tragic accident, indicating that his government is investigating it.

Widespread condemnation of the Israeli attack

The Israeli attack sparked widespread international condemnation. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the strike “killed dozens of innocent civilians who were only seeking shelter from this deadly conflict.”

He added in a post on the X platform: “There is no safe place in Gaza. These atrocities must end.”

European Union officials condemned the Israeli attack on refugee tents in Rafah, which included many children.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he was “outraged” by the recent Israeli attacks and added on the X platform: “These operations must stop. There are no safe areas in Rafah for Palestinian civilians.”
