Watan-Following the announcement of the death of Mohammad Abdullah Mishmish, Director of Programs at “Voice of Al-Aqsa” radio, the Government Media Office in Gaza reported on Tuesday that the number of journalist martyrs has risen to 160 since the outbreak of the Israeli war on October 7th.

In a statement obtained by Anadolu, the office said: “The number of journalist martyrs has risen to 160 since the start of the genocide war on Gaza, following the martyrdom of our colleague, journalist Mohammad Abdullah Mishmish, Director of Programs at Voice of Al-Aqsa radio.”

The statement did not detail the circumstances or date of Mishmish’s death. However, recent days have seen extensive Israeli bombing in several areas of Gaza, some of which were designated as “safe” zones by the Israeli army, directing displaced persons there, while other areas were labeled as “combat zones.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the Gaza government, managed by the Hamas movement, announced that 40 Palestinians were martyred and 99 others injured in two simultaneous massacres carried out by the Israeli army in the central and southern Gaza Strip.

According to the government office’s statement, “the first massacre occurred in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis in the southern sector, and the second targeted an UNRWA school sheltering displaced persons in the Nuseirat camp in the central sector.”

Since the war began on October 7, 2023, supported by the United States, Israel’s actions have resulted in over 127,000 Palestinian casualties, most of whom are children and women, and more than 10,000 people are missing amid massive destruction and a famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children.

Despite two United Nations Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate halt and orders from the International Court of Justice to prevent acts of genocide and improve Gaza’s dire humanitarian situation, Tel Aviv continues its offensive.
