Netanyahu Accuses Hamas of Backtracking on Gaza Ceasefire Agreement
Israeli Prime Minister claims delays in ceasefire approval due to last-minute concessions sought by Hamas, while Hamas reaffirms its commitment to the deal.
Watan–Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of backtracking on certain details of the Gaza ceasefire agreement on Thursday, leading to a delay in the Israeli government’s approval.
In a statement, Netanyahu said, “Hamas is retreating from parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an attempt to extract last-minute concessions.”
He added, “The Israeli government will not convene until the mediators inform Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement.”
In response to Netanyahu’s claims, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the agreement. Senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq stated in a brief Telegram message, “Hamas is committed to the ceasefire agreement announced by the mediators.”
