Hamas Announces Release of Israeli Captives Amid Ceasefire Developments

Three Israeli captives, including individuals with British and Romanian citizenship, are set to be released by Hamas as part of a mediated prisoner exchange agreement.

WatanAbu Ubaida, the spokesperson for Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced that they have decided to release the Israeli captives Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Shatenberg Kheir today.

Hamas stated that it has handed over to mediators the names of the three female captives who will be released, and in return, it demanded the delivery of the list of Palestinian prisoners expected to be released today.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirmed that Israel has received the list of the female captives to be released today from the Qatari mediator.

For its part, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the names of the three captives to be released today were handed over to the Israeli side, noting that one of them holds Romanian citizenship and another British citizenship, thus marking the beginning of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli occupation army had announced that the ceasefire agreement in Gaza would not go into effect due to Hamas not providing the list of detainees expected to be released today, Sunday. In contrast, Hamas confirmed its commitment to the terms of the agreement, pointing out that the delay in delivering the names was due to technical field-related reasons.
