West Bank Under Siege: 898 Military Checkpoints Tighten Israeli Grip
Escalating Restrictions and Military Presence Deepen the Humanitarian Struggle in the Occupied Territories
Watan-Since the implementation of the ceasefire announcement in Gaza, the Israeli occupation has intensified its military measures in the West Bank. It has set up checkpoints and iron gates at the entrances of Palestinian villages and cities, paralyzing citizens’ movement and disrupting their daily lives.
The number of checkpoints and iron gates erected by the occupation army in the West Bank has reached 898, including 18 iron gates since the beginning of 2025 and 146 gates installed after October 7, 2023, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
Amir Dawood, Director General of Publishing and Documentation at the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, told the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that the latest iron gate was installed in the town of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya, by the occupation forces on Wednesday morning.
Dawood pointed out that settlers, under the protection of the occupation army, carried out a series of assaults on Palestinian villages, towns, vehicles, and properties, particularly in eastern Qalqilya, northern occupied West Bank. He emphasized that this indicates functional cooperation between them to harass and disrupt the lives of citizens.

For the third consecutive day, the occupation forces have tightened their military measures at most entrances and exits of the provinces in the West Bank.
In addition to these military restrictions, the occupation forces continue to carry out daily raids in the West Bank, accompanied by mass arrests and intensive military operations—most notably in Jenin—resulting in the martyrdom of 10 Palestinians and the injury of more than 40 others since Tuesday.

Parallel to the genocide in Gaza, the army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, leading to the martyrdom of 871 Palestinians, the injury of about 6,700, and the arrest of 14,300 others, according to official Palestinian data.
Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, Israel, with U.S. support, has committed genocide in the Gaza Strip, resulting in over 157,000 Palestinian martyrs and injured—most of them children and women—and more than 14,000 missing persons, marking one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in the world.
