Father Scolds Son for Neglecting Homework; Child Reports Father to Police for Drug Use

Boy retaliates after being scolded for unfinished homework, leading to father's arrest in China.

Watan-A 10-year-old boy sought revenge on his father, who had scolded him for not completing his homework, by contacting the police and informing them that his father was hiding illegal drugs. This unusual incident occurred earlier this month in Yongning County, China, after the man had sternly reprimanded his son for failing to finish his school assignments on time.

The boy left the house and went directly to a nearby shop, where he asked to use the phone. The fifth-grade student then dialled China’s emergency number, 110, and requested to speak with the police, claiming he had evidence that his father was concealing poppy husks at home, which are considered an illegal drug. He calmly waited for the police to arrive and allowed them access to the house so they could conduct a search and verify his story.

During the search, police found eight dried poppy husks on the boy’s home balcony. The boy’s father admitted to purchasing them, stating he intended to use them solely for medicinal purposes. He expressed regret for violating the law, which classifies poppy husks as a dangerous drug, but insisted he was unaware of this. The police took the evidence and the suspect to a nearby station and have since referred the case to the narcotics division, according to Oddity Central.

Chinese authorities are using this unusual case to remind the public that it is illegal to cultivate or possess poppy husks without permission, and violators will face criminal penalties. Although dried poppy husks have medicinal value, such as relieving pain, aiding sleep, and reducing stress, their cultivation and possession remain illegal due to their association with opium production.

As for the 10-year-old boy, it’s unclear what happened to him after this stunt, as Chinese media outlets do not provide an answer. He likely never imagined that his actions could result in his father potentially facing imprisonment due to his anger.
