Did Sisi Play a Role in Syria’s Failed Coup? Reports Reveal Hidden Details

Reports Allege UAE, Egyptian Intelligence, and Maher al-Assad Were Involved; Turkish and Qatari Intervention Prevented the Plot.

Watan-In a shocking revelation, Turkish sources have claimed that Israel’s Mossad formed a special committee that included intelligence operatives from the UAE and Egypt, along with Maher al-Assad, to orchestrate a failed coup attempt against Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa. Reports suggest that the plan aimed to destabilize the country through coordinated military and security operations, but last-minute intervention from Qatar and Turkey thwarted it.

According to the reports, the plan involved deploying armed groups affiliated with Maher al-Assad to carry out kidnappings, looting, and killings, with the goal of blaming the Damascus government for the chaos. Additionally, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were allegedly set to shell the Tishrin Dam and accuse the Syrian regime of the attack.

The plot also included targeting members of the Alawite sect and committing sexual violence against women to incite internal unrest. Meanwhile, armed groups from Sweida were reportedly preparing to march toward Damascus to seize the presidential palace.

Qatar and Turkey Thwart Alleged Syria Coup

The reports claim that a Qatari officer managed to infiltrate the communication network of the coup plotters and alerted his leadership in Doha. This prompted direct contact between Qatar’s Emir and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In response, Erdoğan reportedly ordered 90 Turkish warplanes to patrol the Syrian-Israeli border and warned Israel that any coup attempt against the Damascus government would be considered a direct threat to Turkey, leading to the immediate halt of the operation.

These allegations emerge at a sensitive time, as the coup attempt reportedly took place shortly before Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s visit to Cairo, raising speculation about a possible role of Egypt’s Sisi government in the events. Reports also suggest that Egyptian media played a role in promoting the movements, similar to its coverage of the failed 2016 coup in Turkey and Egypt’s intervention in Libya.

If these claims are accurate, they highlight the extent of geopolitical tensions in the region and the complex interplay of regional agendas in the Syrian conflict. While there has been no official response from Cairo or Abu Dhabi, the question remains: Was this a serious attempt to overthrow the Damascus government, or merely a propaganda war in the ongoing regional power struggle?
