Massacre at UNRWA Clinic: Israeli Airstrike Kills 22 Civilians, Including 16 Children in Jabalia

An Israeli airstrike on a UN-run clinic sheltering displaced families in northern Gaza leaves dozens dead and wounded, reigniting outrage over attacks on humanitarian sites.

Watan-In one of the most heinous war crimes committed in broad daylight, the Israeli occupation army carried out a bloody massacre in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, targeting an UNRWA clinic that was sheltering dozens of displaced families—most of them women and children.

The airstrikes resulted in the killing of 22 civilians, including 16 children, a woman, and an elderly person. Many others were wounded, some critically, amid harrowing testimonies of dismembered bodies and the screams of children who lost their parents.

The massacre, which occurred inside a United Nations-run clinic, once again raises the issue of the deliberate targeting of humanitarian facilities in Gaza. Since the beginning of the war, over 228 medical and humanitarian facilities have been bombed in the Strip, amid disturbing international silence and flimsy Israeli justifications—the latest being the claim that the clinic was “used by Hamas operatives,” without presenting any credible evidence.

“My Daughter Has No Head”: Gaza’s Agony and the Silence of the World

Survivors and local activists affirm that the clinic was nothing but a civilian shelter, where women and children had taken refuge after their homes were destroyed in months of relentless bombing. One grief-stricken mother screamed amid the rubble: “My daughter has no head!”—a scene that encapsulates the tragedy of Gaza’s residents, who are facing an organized war of extermination.

Despite lukewarm condemnations from some Western capitals, Israel continues its collective punishment policies against more than two million besieged people in Gaza. Meanwhile, human rights groups and humanitarian organizations are demanding an urgent and transparent international investigation—even though past experiences suggest such calls are often met with political indifference and diplomatic double standards.

The UNRWA clinic massacre in Jabalia is neither the first, nor likely the last—but it represents a resounding slap in the face to the silent international system, which records a new moral failure every day in the face of the horrific crimes of the occupation in Gaza.
