UAE Launches Secret PR Campaign Amid Genocide Accusations Over Sudan Ties

Media strategy aims to polish image as Sudan sues over support for RSF militias and atrocities in Darfur.

Watan-It has been revealed that the Emirati regime has secretly launched a media campaign aimed at polishing its tarnished image, stained by accusations of supporting militias in Sudan and participating in crimes of genocide.

According to consistent sources, this complex media campaign involves the full deployment of media tools, with a single objective: rebranding the UAE’s image in light of growing popular outrage over its controversial role in the region.

Key features of the campaign include repackaging the narrative of “the UAE’s humanitarian hands” by broadcasting curated reports about the country’s “humanitarian aid” efforts around the world, especially in Africa and Palestine.

The campaign also promotes posts suggesting that “those who do good are always envied,” attempting to frame criticism of the UAE as driven by jealousy of its “success.”

Simultaneously, efforts are underway to recast the image of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—which have become closely associated with the UAE—by spreading videos of RSF members speaking about “patriotism,” “support for the Palestinian cause,” revolution, and freedom.

This includes recording new recruits joining the RSF to support the narrative that “the people support them,” thus portraying the Sudanese conflict as a purely internal matter unrelated to any foreign interference. Sudanese figures are also being recruited to deliver biased testimonies, which are then presented as “popular opinion.”

The strategy also involves enlisting social media influencers from various nationalities—particularly Arabs and Gulf citizens—who are willing to collaborate by posting videos and tweets defending the UAE and attacking its critics.

Another key element is reputation-cleansing in the West. With backing from the Israeli lobby, diplomatic coordination has been initiated with the British government to support mediation efforts to “calm the situation in Sudan” and include the UAE in international initiatives for Sudan.

While the UAE and RSF representatives will be invited to such talks, the Sudanese army and government officials will reportedly be excluded. In parallel, a UK-based PR firm has been tasked with publishing a series of reports portraying the UAE as a “peace broker” facing unjust defamation, and highlighting its “role in conflict resolution.”

According to sources, this campaign seeks to lay the groundwork for influencing Western public opinion—particularly to undermine Sudan’s lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), or at the very least to cast doubt on it.

The UAE has firmly positioned itself as a major adversary of Sudan and its people, having supported the RSF militias for years and helping fuel the country’s civil war since it began nearly two years ago.

On March 5, Sudan filed a case against the UAE at the International Court of Justice, accusing it of violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention for supporting RSF militias involved in attacks in West Darfur.

Earlier last month, Sudan also filed a formal complaint to the United Nations Security Council, demanding urgent measures to halt what it described as Emirati aggression through the RSF.
