Hamas Offers Captives-for-Prisoners Deal in Exchange for End to Gaza War
Khalil al-Hayya says Hamas is ready for a comprehensive agreement that includes a full Israeli withdrawal, lifting the siege, and starting reconstruction.
Watan-The head of Hamas in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, said that the movement is ready to immediately negotiate an agreement to exchange all captives for an agreed-upon number of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel as part of a deal that would end the war in the Strip.
He added that the movement is ready “to immediately begin comprehensive package negotiations, in which all captives held by the resistance would be released, in exchange for an agreed-upon number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation’s prisons, in return for a complete halt to the war against our people, full withdrawal from the Strip, the start of reconstruction, and the lifting of the siege.”
In a televised speech, he said the movement rejects any temporary truce agreement, stating, “Partial agreements are used by Netanyahu and his government as a cover for his political agenda based on continuing the war of extermination and starvation, even if the cost is sacrificing all of their captives. We will not be part of enabling this policy.”
