Al-Qassam Brigades Bomb Israeli Forces in Khan Younis Tunnel Ambush

Dead and injured reported as Al-Qassam fighters detonate explosives in a tunnel trap targeting Israeli troops and military bulldozers in southern Gaza.

Watan-The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced the detonation of a tunnel entrance with multiple explosive devices targeting an Israeli force in the “Qizan al-Najjar” area, south of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

In a statement released today, Friday, Al-Qassam said its fighters lured an Israeli force into a booby-trapped tunnel near the entrance and detonated it with several explosive devices as soon as a number of soldiers entered. The explosion resulted in deaths and injuries among the Israeli force in the Qizan al-Najjar area south of Khan Younis, according to the Palestinian Press Agency (Safa).

Al-Qassam Targets Israeli Bulldozers Amid Renewed Gaza War

The statement added that the fighters also detonated three high-powered explosive devices targeting two Israeli D9 bulldozers the day before yesterday, also in the Qizan al-Najjar area.

In a related operation, Al-Qassam Brigades targeted three Israeli military bulldozers of the D9 type yesterday, Thursday, using a “Yassin 105” shell, a “Shawaz” explosive device, and a barrel-shaped bomb in the same Qizan al-Najjar area.

Since March 18, Israel has resumed its war on Gaza, backing out of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas that had lasted 58 days since January 19, 2025, under the mediation of Qatar and Egypt and with U.S. support.

According to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, since March 18, 1,691 people have been killed and 4,464 others wounded, the majority of whom are women and children.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces have continued their war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in more than 164,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 14,000 people reported missing. This comes in response to Hamas launching the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation.
