Houthis Strike Israel with Hypersonic Missile and Drone in Solidarity with Gaza
Yemeni Group Claims Hits on Haifa and Tel Aviv, Citing Support for Palestinians Amid Israeli War on Gaza
Watan-The Yemeni Houthi group announced on Wednesday that it had launched a hypersonic ballistic missile and a drone to strike two Israeli targets in the cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv.
In a statement, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, Yahya Saree, said:”The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a special military operation targeting a vital Zionist target in the occupied Haifa area using a hypersonic ballistic missile.”
He stated that “the missile reached its target,” and claimed that Israeli air defense systems failed to intercept it.
He added that the attack “caused a state of fear and panic among the Zionist settlers, with more than two million Zionists heading to shelters.”
Houthis: Drone Strike on Tel Aviv in Support of Gaza
Saree also noted that they carried out “another military operation targeting a vital site in the occupied Yafa area (Tel Aviv as referred to by Israel) using a drone of the ‘Yafa’ type.”
He emphasized that these operations were conducted “in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people and their resistance fighters, and in rejection of the genocide being committed by the Israeli enemy with American support against our brothers in Gaza.”
As of 12:00 GMT, Israeli occupation authorities had not issued a response to the statement released by the Yemeni group.
The Houthis have repeatedly claimed responsibility for launching ballistic missile operations against sites and military bases inside the occupied Palestinian territories, in support of the Palestinians and Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel—backed fully by the United States—has been carrying out a genocide in Gaza, resulting in over 168,000 Palestinians killed or injured, most of them women and children, with more than 11,000 still missing.
