Morocco Conducts ‘Flotex 2025’ Naval Drills in Mediterranean to Boost Combat Readiness

Royal Navy units engage in multi-phase military exercises simulating air-sea warfare, missile launches, and electronic warfare as part of Morocco’s enhanced maritime defense strategy.

Watan-On Wednesday, the Moroccan army announced the organization of military exercises in the Mediterranean Sea, aimed at boosting the combat readiness of the Royal Navy units and enhancing their tactical capabilities.

According to a statement from the army, the first edition of the naval exercise “Flotex 2025” was held from April 14 to 18 in the Mediterranean Sea, within the Northern Maritime Sector. The drills are part of efforts to improve operational efficiency and tactical skills of naval units.

The statement explained that the exercise aims to “train the naval command chain in executing air-sea operations and to enhance planning and operational execution capabilities.”

The maneuvers included a range of operational activities, such as “tactical naval drills, interception operations, conventional warfare simulations, search and rescue exercises, simulated surface-to-air missile launches, night helicopter take-off and landing drills, and electronic warfare scenario responses.”

The statement added that the exercise unfolded in three consecutive phases: an initial operational integration stage, followed by leadership skill development drills, and concluding with realistic naval maneuvers that strengthened operational coordination among the participating units.
