UN: Gaza Food Stocks Fully Depleted as Famine and Death Spread Under Ongoing Israeli Siege
The UN World Food Programme warns it has exhausted all food supplies in Gaza. Gaza's government says 2.4 million Palestinians face mass death from famine as Israel blocks aid for the 55th day.
Watan-The UN World Food Programme (WFP) announced on Friday that all food supplies in war-ravaged Gaza have now been completely depleted, as Israel has blocked the entry of any humanitarian aid since March 2.
In a statement, the WFP said:”Today, the World Food Programme delivered its last remaining food stocks to hot meal kitchens in Gaza. These kitchens are expected to run out of food completely in the coming days.”
Meanwhile, the Gaza government warned on Friday that Palestinians in the Strip are “on the brink of mass death” due to widespread famine and the total collapse of vital sectors, calling for an immediate and unrestricted humanitarian corridor to save more than 2.4 million Palestinians.
Gaza Government: Famine Now a Brutal Reality Amid Total Blockade
In an official statement, the government’s media office held Israel and its backers fully responsible for what it described as a “documented genocide with audio and visual evidence.”
“We warn of a rapidly worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza amid a full Israeli blockade and 55 consecutive days of closed crossings. This has resulted in a famine threatening the lives of over 2.4 million people,” the statement added.
It emphasized:“Famine in Gaza is no longer a threat—it is now a brutal reality, with 52 confirmed deaths from starvation and malnutrition, including 50 children, in one of the most horrific forms of slow, systematic killing.”
Over 60,000 children are currently suffering from severe malnutrition, and more than one million children endure daily hunger, leading to severe wasting, physical deterioration, and life-threatening conditions. Thousands of families are now unable to provide even one meal per day for their children.
The statement issued what it called a “final warning before catastrophe”, declaring:“Any delay in response will be seen as direct complicity in this crime and a permanent stain on the conscience of humanity and history.”
Gaza Demands Urgent Humanitarian Corridor as Blockade Deepens Famine
It urgently demanded the immediate and unconditional opening of a secure humanitarian corridor to save lives in Gaza before it’s too late and called for internationally independent investigative committees to probe Israel’s starvation campaign and slow-kill tactics in Gaza.
On March 2, Israel shut down all three Gaza crossings to humanitarian aid and fuel, resuming its campaign of genocide. Gaza’s 2.4 million residents now rely entirely on humanitarian assistance, as the war has driven most of them into poverty, according to World Bank data.
Earlier in March 2025, the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel, which began on January 19, collapsed after Israel reneged on the terms and resumed the war on March 18.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel—with full U.S. backing—has carried out a genocide in Gaza, killing and injuring more than 168,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and leaving over 11,000 missing.
