Ahmed Taha Probes Adraee on ‘Al-Aqsa Deluge’ Operation
"Al Jazeera Direct" anchor Ahmed Taha hosts Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee to comment on the "Al-Aqsa Deluge" operation

Watan – During the “Al Jazeera” broadcast, journalist Ahmed Taha posed a pointed question to Avichay Adraee, the spokesperson for the Israeli military. Adraee found himself evading the inquiry regarding the exact number of Israeli prisoners and casualties resulting from the “Al-Aqsa Deluge” operation. This operation has notably rattled Israel, revealing its vulnerabilities in a matter of hours.

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have asserted that they currently detain around 50 Israeli prisoners, following their incursions into various Israeli checkpoints and neighborhoods.

Throughout the interview, Adraee deftly sidestepped Taha’s persistent questions about the number of Israelis in the custody of the resistance. Instead, Adraee shifted the narrative, accusing Hamas of using civilians as shields. However, when pressed further, he conceded that the specifics regarding casualties, injuries, and prisoners remained uncertain. He did acknowledge that the Israeli military had suffered losses and had prisoners taken. He further noted that numerous individuals from Hamas, whom he termed “saboteurs,” had penetrated Israeli territories.

Confronted with the Israeli military’s apparent lack of clarity on the number of its personnel held by the Al-Qassam Brigades, Adraee vaguely stated that while some figures were known, others were still under investigation. He emphasized that the Israeli public would receive this information firsthand before any media disclosure.

Throughout the conversation, Adraee consistently deflected, underscoring that the Israeli public’s right to information took precedence. He also highlighted the Israeli military’s ongoing defensive and offensive operations as their primary focus.
