This innocent toddler, yet to reach her second birthday, lies on a hospital bed in Gaza, her face marred by grievous burns—a stark testament to her exposure to white phosphorus, a deadly substance the Israeli occupation forces employ in their relentless and ruthless bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip. This utilization starkly contravenes international norms that strictly prohibit the deployment of this lethal substance in conflict.
The video captures the child’s tremors and subdued whimpers, as activist Mohammed Abu Ubaid says. He remarks, “A child who has yet to see her second year, ‘as bright as the moon,’ enduring such torment. Her anguished cries defy adequate description.”
The latest figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza paint a somber picture, revealing that the majority of casualties resulting from the relentless Israeli bombardment are children and women.
