Alleged American Proposal for the Displacement of Gaza Residents to Four Countries

Watan-According to the “Israel Hayom” newspaper, a proposal has been presented to the U.S. Congress linking U.S. aid to four countries and urging them to accommodate refugees from the besieged Palestinian territory. This is part of Israeli-American efforts to implement a “displacement plan” that has faced broad Arab rejection and unequivocal opposition from the Palestinians themselves.

The newspaper reports that the proposal has received approval from senior members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. However, its presenter, House Representative “Joe Wilson,” has attempted to keep it away from media attention, believing that publicizing it may jeopardize or distort the plan.

The proposal is based on unverified claims suggesting that civilians are caught between Hamas and Egypt, which refuses to open its borders. It aligns with Israeli misinformation about avoiding harm to civilians, thus asking four countries to absorb Gaza‘s population.

Plan to Displace Gaza Residents to 4 Countries

The plan involves offering one billion dollars to Egypt in exchange for accommodating a number of refugees, alongside Iraq and Yemen, both of which also receive approximately one billion dollars in aid according to the newspaper’s claims.

Notably, the plan incorporates Turkey under the pretext that it receives over 150 million dollars in U.S. foreign aid and has the capacity to accommodate refugees representing less than 1% of its population.

According to the proposal, Turkey would receive half a million Gazans, while Egypt would take in another million, and 250,000 each would be accommodated by Iraq and Yemen.

Previous Experiences in Displacement

The plan claims to draw on previous experiences in displacement, according to the databases of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. It asserts that both Egypt and Turkey have welcomed displaced individuals from wars in Syria and other countries.

However, the proposal criticizes UNRWA, accusing it of being a cause for prolonging the conflict and failing to work towards the rehabilitation of Palestinian refugees for over seventy years.

Israeli Minister of Intelligence Gila Gamliel previously urged the international community to resettle Gaza’s inhabitants in another country, considering it one of the humanitarian options post-war.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, during his speech at the Union for the Mediterranean meeting, affirmed that Jordan rejects the displacement plan that Israel is attempting to impose. He emphasized that the two-state solution is the only path to peace.

Additionally, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi declared his complete rejection of the plan to relocate Palestinians to Sinai in one of his public appearances. This proposal was met with comprehensive Arab refusal, with Arab leaders at the ‘Riyadh Summit’ confirming that the suggestion is entirely rejected and that Palestinians cannot be expelled from their land.
