Watan-Cyber Attacks Persist in Israel Amid Escalation in the Aftermath of the Devastating Israeli War on Gaza

The cyber onslaught on Israel has continued to intensify since the onset of the horrifying Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in October of last year.

In the latest of these attacks, Israeli media reported on Friday that information from Israel’s archives, dating back to 2020, had been breached, raising concerns that this information may have fallen into the hands of the attackers.

According to reports in the Israeli media regarding the breach, a database containing details of public inquiries was compromised, leading to the deletion of a significant amount of information from the site.

Meanwhile, Israeli media claims that no classified materials were damaged or leaked in the attack.

Increasing Cyber Attacks in Israel

This cyber attack is not the first of its kind, as official Israeli websites and personal accounts of Israeli officials have been targeted for hacking.

According to the cybersecurity monitoring company “Recorded Future,” cyber attacks on Israeli websites and applications have been escalating since the beginning of the ‘Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa.’

On November 21st of last year, hackers breached the Israeli Innovation Authority website, gaining access to tens of thousands of data records. On the same day, servers of a web hosting company were compromised, leaking information obtained from the ‘Israel Archive’ website.

Previously, a massive breach of mobile phones belonging to Knesset members was announced, resulting in subsequent communication disruptions for 15 members of the ‘Yesh Atid’ party, including the party leader and opposition leader Yair Lapid.

Additionally, anti-Israeli narrative hacker groups have claimed to successfully target and intermittently shut down the well-known Israeli news site, ‘Jerusalem Post,’ in recent days.

On October 11th of last year, Israeli media reported a state of confusion and panic due to a cyber attack suspected to be behind the disruption in the ‘Northern Front,’ causing alarm throughout Israel.
