Watan-The Palestinian grandfather Khaled Nabhan, who became known for the phrase “Spirit of the Spirit” after appearing and addressing it to the body of his granddaughter Reem, who was martyred in an Israeli bombardment, has released a new video responding to the Israeli pressures to evacuate refugee camps in Gaza amid the brutal war in the region.
In an interview with Al Jazeera live from the Nuseirat camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip, Khaled Nabhan said, “We will remain in this place, God willing. If God grants us life, then welcome to life. If God Almighty has decreed death for us, then welcome to death and welcome to meeting God.”
The grandfather, famous for the phrase “Spirit of the Spirit” that he used to describe his martyr granddaughter, continued, “We will not move from this place. We will stay until God wills it.”

The Palestinian who gained widespread fame through a poignant video with his granddaughter questioned, “Where do we even go? There is no electricity, no cars. The vehicles are very few, maybe 20 or 30 cars.”

Grandfather Khaled Nabhan continued, “With God, we will find guidance, and we all have confidence in God that He is with us and will not abandon us. The people here all have one voice—we will not leave this place, whatever happens.”
Khaled appealed to the United Nations Security Council, the Arab countries, and what he called the free world to “look at Gaza with a merciful gaze, especially as the anniversary of the birth of the Lord Jesus, peace be upon him, approaches. He came with a message of peace like other messengers and prophets.”
Nabhani emphasized that everyone should “help lift the injustice from Gaza,” repeating his question: “How long will we remain in this situation?”

The well-known Turkish writer and translator, Aychin Qanat Oğlu, called for dedicating the 23rd of December each year as the International Day for Child Martyrs, in honor of the birthday of the Gazan martyr girl Reem. She became known by the title “Spirit of the Spirit” after appearing in a poignant video following her martyrdom in an Israeli bombardment. The video showed her grandfather carrying her, embracing her, stroking her hair, and describing her in that way.

The number of Palestinian martyrs who lost their lives due to the brutal Israeli war against Gaza, mostly children and women, exceeded 20,000, in addition to more than 50,000 injured.
