Gaza’s Heartbreak: Tragedy Unfolds in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital
Tragic scenes from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Gaza

Watan-Video footage has documented the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip resulting from the brutal war waged by the occupying army since October 7th of last year.

Scenes broadcasted by Al Jazeera showed body bags for the martyrs, with children lying on the floor inside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Deir al-Balah Governorate, central Gaza.

The distressing scenes included children immersed in their own blood, receiving treatment while lying on the ground.

These horrifying images of Gaza’s children are part of the devastating toll inflicted by the ongoing war since October 7th of last year.

1,000 children in Gaza have had one or both legs amputated

In this context, James Elder, the spokesperson for UNICEF, reported that more than 1,000 children in Gaza have had one or both legs amputated as a result of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

International relief workers visiting the region conveyed the humanitarian tragedy experienced by over 2.3 million Palestinians, amidst the inability to meet basic needs for survival.

Regarding the worsening health crisis due to the Israeli blockade and severe shortages of medical supplies, UNICEF explained that doctors in Gaza are forced to amputate limbs not only without anesthesia but also through quick procedures outside health facilities, and without pain relievers as well.

An official from UNICEF emphasized that even if children recover from amputation, they cannot escape the threat of death due to Israeli airstrikes.

Previously, Dr. Margaret Harris, spokesperson for the World Health Organization, stated that the organization’s staff in Gaza cannot move between emergency departments in hospitals in fear of “trampling people,” referring to the overcrowding of medical centers with the wounded, patients, and those displaced by the aggression.

She described the situation inside hospitals as “unthinkable” and said, “It’s unbelievable that the world allows this suffering to continue,” confirming that patients and the wounded experience severe pain and are in need of food and water.”
