Watan-Egyptian media and activists reported that the Egyptian authorities have succeeded in bringing Palestinian journalist and media personality Wael El-Dahdouh, a correspondent for Al Jazeera, to Egypt from the Gaza Strip in response to a request from the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate.

The “Palestinian Journalists Syndicate” stated in a statement monitored by (Watan) that “colleague Wael El-Dahdouh and his family left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing to the Qatari capital, Doha, to complete the treatment.”

The syndicate thanked its counterpart, the “Egyptian Journalists Syndicate,” for their efforts and wished safety and recovery for colleague El-Dahdouh and his family.

In a statement, the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate stated that they had contacted El-Dahdouh after his arrival on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing to inquire about his well-being.

The syndicate expressed gratitude to the Egyptian state and relevant authorities for responding to the syndicate’s request to facilitate El-Dahdouh’s entry into Egypt for medical treatment.

The Egyptian syndicate reiterated its ongoing demands to stop the Zionist aggression on Palestine and to hold Zionist war criminals accountable.

The syndicate expressed gratitude to all Egyptian state institutions and everyone who made an effort to assist in Wael El-Dahdouh’s case and the treatment of Palestinian casualties.

El-Dahdouh thanks Egyptians

Wael El-Dahdouh expressed his gratitude to Egypt, all Egyptian jo

urnalists, and the syndicate council for their support for him and the Palestinian cause. He also thanked his colleagues at Al Jazeera for their support, mentioning that he would go abroad to complete his treatment.

This came in El-Dahdouh’s first appearance from inside Egypt on the screen of “Cairo News” news channel. He revealed that he left the Gaza Strip for the treatment of his hand, which was seriously injured following the Israeli targeting that affected him and his colleague Samer Aboudqa, who died as a result.

It is worth mentioning that Wael El-Dahdouh lost several members of his family due to the continuous Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip. On October 25th of last year, his wife, son, and daughter were killed in an Israeli attack on a house where the family had taken refuge in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

On January 7th of this year, the occupation killed his son Hamza El-Dahdouh and journalist Mustafa Thriya in an airstrike on their car in Rafah, the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip.

Serious injury

Wael El-Dahdouh was injured in an Israeli shelling on the Farhan School in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, an attack that led to the death of his colleague, the photographer Samer Abu Daka.

In an interview with his colleagues at the “Al Jazeera” studio after the injury, El-Dahdouh stated that his hand needed nerve mapping and a highly precise surgical intervention, which is not available in the Gaza Strip, neither in terms of specialization nor in terms of the necessary equipment and devices.

El-Dahdouh explained that the situation worsens during times of war, making the recovery process nearly impossible, adding, “We hope that this cloud will dissipate, and this war will stop, and I find an opportunity to treat my hand so that it can function as it did before.”
