Watan-According to Hebrew reports, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has suspended talks on the proposed prisoner exchange plan, marking a setback for potential negotiations with Israel, as described by Israeli media.

According to Israeli media, Qatar informed the Israeli authorities that Hamas decided to suspend negotiations, highlighting a key demand from Hamas for a complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip in the initial stage of any agreement.

Efforts for Additional Proposals

Despite Hamas rejecting the settlement proposal, Israeli officials insist that the possibility of reaching an agreement has not been completely ruled out. Efforts are currently being made to formulate additional proposals with broad outlines, although achieving an imminent agreement seems unlikely at this stage.

Previous reports indicated that both Israel and Hamas had, in principle, agreed to a deal involving a prisoner exchange and a temporary ceasefire lasting approximately a month.

Implementation Delays

However, the implementation of the plan faced delays due to disagreements over subsequent steps and Hamas’s insistence on reaching an agreement to end the war on Gaza.

It is reported that one of the proposed formulations presented to Hamas included Israel’s request to evacuate six of its top officials from Gaza. This proposal was vehemently rejected by Hamas, emphasizing the importance of figures such as Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, and the military commander of the Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Deif, whom Israel considers key coordinators of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.
