Watan-In a new development concerning the situation in the Red Sea, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the targeting of 10 drones and a ground control station affiliated with the Houthi rebel group in Yemen.
CENTCOM stated in a release on its platform “Ex” that on February 1st, around 1:30 AM Sanaa time, US Central Command forces carried out strikes against a ground control station for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 10 drones associated with the Houthi group.
The statement mentioned that the US forces identified the ground control station for UAVs and the attack drones in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen, determining them to pose an imminent threat to US commercial ships and naval vessels in the region.
Ballistic Missile Intercept
Previously, CENTCOM announced the interception of an anti-ship ballistic missile launched from areas controlled by the Houthis by the US destroyer “USS Carney.”
It added that less than an hour later, the “USS Carney” intercepted three Iranian drones in close proximity, without specifying whether they were armed or for surveillance only.

CENTCOM Intercepted Houthi Ballistic Missile
CENTCOM announced the interception of a Houthi ballistic missile. The Houthi group declared that its naval forces had launched suitable naval missiles at the US destroyer “USS Gridley” in the Red Sea.
The group’s military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, stated in a release on the Ex platform, “US and British warships will be targeted within the legitimate right of defending our country, people, and nation, reaffirming Yemen’s supportive stance towards Palestine.”
The Minister of Defense in the Houthi government, Mohammed Nasser al-Atifi, had previously affirmed that the group is ready for a long confrontation with the United States and Britain, threatening that his group would bring about the painful end to American dominance, which he claimed Yemen is stronger than the airstrikes by the US, Britain, and Israel.
Houthi Attacks
It is worth noting that since October of last year, the Houthi rebels, who control the most densely populated areas in Yemen, have launched a wave of explosive-laden drones and missiles at commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in response to the Israeli war on Gaza and in solidarity with the Palestinians.
