Inspiring Light: “Newton Gaza” Illuminates Darkness with Inventive Brilliance

Watan-The difficult conditions of displacement and daily suffering experienced by Palestinians these days have inspired a child from Gaza to invent a solution that dispels the darkness inside tents, leading many to nickname him “Newton Gaza.”

According to a video report by Al Jazeera, the child, “Hussam Al-Attar,” successfully created a device that generates electricity inside his family’s refugee tent.

Palestinian Child and Ingenious Inventor

As the report continues, Hussam is shown examining an electrical switch installed on the mud wall of the tent, and an external windmill indicates that the innovation operates using wind power.

The report highlights that Hussam’s family was able to illuminate their home with this invention after enduring 20 days in complete darkness following their displacement to the area.

In an interview, the Palestinian child is seen installing electrical plugs, explaining that he purchased materials for his invention from the market, with each piece costing one shekel. He installed a wind fan on the tent’s surface and revealed that he used to face physical punishment from his father whenever he climbed to work on his invention. However, when the lights lit up, his father felt happiness.

A Candle That Curses the Darkness

The report emphasizes that the inventive Palestinian child, Hussam, based his creation on academic ideas to become a “candle cursing the darkness.”

Hussam, a Palestinian student from the “Jabal Al-Makbar” school in northern Gaza, suddenly found himself without shelter along with his family.

Motivated by the fear he saw in the eyes of his twin nephews due to the darkness in the tent, Hussam aimed to bring joy to them and illuminate their surroundings.

The innovative child explained that his motivation for designing this invention was his desire to provide necessary lighting for his brother to see clearly during nighttime hours.

He expressed, “I love life, and I cherish its details. I hope to be an inventor and a discoverer, but it is impossible for Palestine to die inside me.”

Hussam’s inventive spirit earned him the nickname “Newton Gaza” after successfully conquering darkness with virtually nothing.
