Watan-Twitter users have shared a video showing what they considered an embarrassing situation for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the circulated footage, Vladimir Putin enters the hall of the “Holocaust 75” memorial conference, where he greets French President Emmanuel Macron and Britain’s Charles III before taking his seat directly next to Netanyahu.
Despite Netanyahu sitting “shoulder to shoulder” with Putin, the latter, according to the video, ignores him and does not greet him as he did with Macron and Charles sitting to his left.
World leaders had gathered in the occupied city of Jerusalem at that time to commemorate the “75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz detention and extermination camp for Jews in Poland” during World War II, known as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Putin: The horrific events in the Gaza Strip cannot be justified
It is worth noting that Putin had previously stated that the “horrific events in Gaza cannot be justified.” He expressed sorrow at the sight of images of dead children stained with blood, and he believes that the only way to resolve the Israeli war on Gaza Strip is by establishing a “fully sovereign Palestinian state.”
Putin added, “The key to resolving the conflict in the Middle East is the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state.”
He blamed the United States for the continuation of the current conflict, stating, “The United States needs ongoing chaos in the Middle East, so it tarnishes the reputation of those countries insisting on an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.”
