Hebrew media reported that cases of military disobedience and refusal of military service have increased within the ranks of the Israeli occupation army, and that there are psychological and physical crises affecting the “Givati” Brigade.

The Givati Brigade is an infantry brigade in the Israeli occupation army, established in late 1947 by the Haganah organization, then became part of the occupation army under the Southern Command, which participated in the invasions launched by the occupation on Gaza during the wars of 2008, 2014, and 2023.

According to the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz”, soldiers from the mentioned brigade recently refused to obey orders and carry out military tasks inside the city of Gaza, due to their psychological condition and physical exhaustion.

According to the same source, a number of fighters from the Givati Brigade recently refused to continue operational activities in the Gaza Strip, on the grounds that their leaders are ignoring their physical and mental conditions, given the tasks assigned to them.

In recent days, the Shaked Battalion, affiliated with the Northern Brigade of the Gaza Strip, has been stationed. The battalion’s fighters have been carrying out continuous combat missions since October 7th. Since the ground operations of the Israeli occupation army began in Gaza, they have participated in some of the toughest battles in the Gaza Strip, and even lost comrades in the brigade described as the toughest in the occupation army.

The Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” previously revealed that more than 2,800 soldiers have been treated at the rehabilitation department of the occupation army since the beginning of the “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.”

High Price

The Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” mentioned in December last year that the rehabilitation department in the Israeli occupation army will activate a program to assist soldiers suffering from psychological disorders due to the war in Gaza.

This came after a video spread of an Israeli soldier saying that he was urinating on himself and almost killed his wife because of the terror he experienced due to the war on Gaza.

The newspaper quoted officials in the rehabilitation department as saying that teams of nurses and psychiatrists will be formed to deal with “suicidal tendencies” in order to assess soldiers suffering from psychological disorders.

It noted that the war on Gaza imposes an unbearable and steep price in terms of lives, physical injuries, and psychological disorders, especially among disabled soldiers.
