Investigating Israel's Massive Power Outage

Watan-The Israeli Electric Company revealed that electricity was cut off to nearly 10,000 homes (120,000 Israelis), amid strong reports suggesting a cyber attack.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that 10,000 homes experienced power outages due to a malfunction at one of the power generation stations.

Among the areas affected by the power outage were Haifa (north), Ashkelon (south), Bnei Brak, and Petah Tikva (central).

The Electric Company stated that a malfunction occurred in one of the production units located in the city of Petah Tikva, resulting in the power outage.

The company claimed that the power outage “was not the result of a cyber attack.”

Later on, according to the Hebrew channel, the issue was resolved, alternative production units were activated, and electricity was restored to most of the homes affected by the outage.

The Israeli Army Radio reported that the widespread power outage in Israel was due to a production malfunction at the Orot Rabin station in Kedera.

Israel has often been subjected to cyber attacks since the start of its aggressive war on the Gaza Strip last October.
