Watan-Media reports indicated that an Argentine man fell victim to a serious mistake in a hospital when doctors mistakenly amputated a different organ than the one intended for removal, resulting in a catastrophe that might deprive the patient of fatherhood for the rest of his life.
Sources stated that the unfortunate man, named Jorge Pérez, suffered a grave error during a surgery to remove his gallbladder at the “Florencio Díaz” hospital.
The 41-year-old man had entered the hospital days prior, but the surgery was postponed until the following day.
After a day from the erroneous surgery
A day after the erroneous surgery, upon waking up and regaining consciousness, the hospital staff informed him that the surgeons had assumed he was undergoing a procedure to cut the bile duct.
The nurse confirmed to him that the hospital never performs gallbladder surgeries, but it was too late.
Argentine TV channel El Doce TV quoted the man saying, “I feel extreme anger and helplessness because what they did cannot be undone. Endless questions haunt your mind.”

Pérez added, “I don’t understand how such negligence and a major mistake could happen. It’s extremely bizarre because the word ‘gallbladder’ is in my file everywhere; all they had to do was read it.”
The man was compelled to stay in the hospital and undergo another surgery to remove his gallbladder. The case is currently under investigation, as reported by the Argentine TV channel El Doce.
It’s worth noting that Pérez already has two sons, but he desired to have a daughter. Doctors informed him that after the surgery, this was no longer possible, leaving him with only one option: artificial insemination.
