Watan-The Turkish Football Federation has terminated its sponsorship contract with the American company McDonald’s, which was in place until 2026, due to the company’s policy supporting the Israeli occupation army in its continuous war against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip for the sixth consecutive month.

According to the Turkish news website “Khabar 7” on Wednesday, the Turkish Football Federation notified the American fast-food company of the termination of the contract, where the brand appears on the jerseys of the men’s and women’s national teams, along with stickers on the federation’s official website.

The report added, “The Turkish Football Federation responded to the significant pressure exerted by sports fans in the recent period to cancel the contract with the American company, which has announced its support for the Israeli occupation army in more than one competition by providing fast food meals to them during the military operation against civilians in the Gaza Strip.”

Furthermore, it continued, “The Turkish Football Federation has removed the brand of the American McDonald‘s from its official website, along with requesting the withdrawal of all jerseys of the men’s and women’s national teams that have the fast-food company’s sticker on them.”

Boycott of McDonald’s fast food company

“The Turkish Football Federation extended its contract with the American McDonald’s on June 12, 2023, for an amount estimated at $20 million annually, but the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and the company’s policy in supporting the occupation army made the fans demand the cancellation of the contract.”

The report concluded, “Turkish citizens have been calling in recent months to boycott all American companies in their country due to the policy of these companies in supporting the Israeli occupation army in its continuous war on the Gaza Strip.”

More than 30,000 Palestinian martyrs, most of them civilians, including children and women, have been killed, and about 70,000 have been injured in various ways, while about 8,000 are still missing under the rubble of destroyed homes due to indiscriminate bombing during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip for the 153rd consecutive day.
