Watan-The former star of the Palestinian national team, Mohamed Barakat, and former player of the Jordanian club Al-Wahdat, was martyred in the Israeli occupation’s shelling of his family’s home in the southern Gaza Strip during the ongoing genocidal war on the region for the sixth consecutive month.

Local Palestinian media confirmed the martyrdom of the former Al-Wahdat player, Mohamed Barakat, along with several members of his family, in the Israeli occupation’s shelling of their home in Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip.

Reports stated that Mohamed Barakat, a former player for the Palestinian national team and Al-Wahdat in Jordan, who was also an English language teacher, participated in the elite group of Quran memorizers and reciters during a session last year.

More than 150 Palestinian athletes in various fields have been martyred during the continuous Israeli war on the Gaza Strip for the sixth consecutive month. This occurs amidst Arab silence and Western support for the Israeli occupation’s crimes against innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

The Israeli war on Gaza

The Israeli occupation has committed thousands of massacres against Palestinian civilians, including children and women, by bombing homes, residential neighborhoods, mosques, schools, and hospitals without prior warning.

It is worth noting that the toll of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has surpassed 31,000 Palestinian martyrs, the majority of whom were civilians. Approximately 70,000 others have been injured with various wounds, according to the latest report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
