Standing in Solidarity: Muslim Responsibilities Amid the Israeli War on Gaza Strip

Watan-“Does Allah accept the fasting of Muslims while we abandon the people of Gaza to die of hunger and killing?” This is a question that many have been asking since the arrival of the month of Ramadan amidst the war waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip, which includes a brutal siege.

Preacher Haifa Younis, the head of the “Jannah” charitable foundation in the United States, sparked a reaction after answering this question.

Haifa said in a television interview with Al Jazeera, “If a Muslim fulfills the obligations of fasting, refrains from what breaks the fast, and performs the duties, then his fasting is valid according to Sharia law.”

But she added, “What kind of fasting is mine? And how much reward will I get for this fasting? Especially when I see this famine before me… Many people overlook that sin acts as a barrier between the servant and his Lord in the acceptance of supplication.”

She explained that if a Muslim wants to support the Palestinian people, he should not let anything stand between him and Allah so that his prayers are answered.

She pointed out that among the types of solidarity with what is happening to the Palestinian people in Gaza is for the Muslim not to be extravagant in Ramadan meals, and to be a grateful, obedient, and devout servant of Allah.

It is worth noting that this year’s Ramadan coincides with the savage war waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians, amidst a comprehensive siege causing severe food and clean water shortages, leading to the martyrdom of Palestinians, including children, due to hunger, drought, and malnutrition.

Sheikh Ali al-Qaradaghi clarifies what Muslims should do The head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Ali al-Qaradaghi, revealed what Muslims should do during the blessed month of Ramadan to support the Palestinians amid the war waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip.

Al-Qaradaghi explains what is required of Muslims to do

Al-Qaradaghi said, “Ramadan is the month of victories, jihad, goodness, blessings, and generosity, and the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was the most generous of people, and the nation should follow him in generosity, which must reach the stage of sacrifice.”

He added, “I urge my nation to hasten to goodness and to be generous with everything they can be generous with, and to feel what our brothers in Gaza are suffering from hunger, thirst, and disease.”

He continued, “It is not permissible for our nation to do what it does in the rest of the years of extravagance and wastefulness in the name of Ramadan. We must offer (to the people of Gaza) everything we can.”

Al-Qaradaghi issued a fatwa saying, “I decree that the person who wants to perform a recommended Umrah in Ramadan should give the value of the recommended Umrah to our brothers in Gaza, so his reward with Allah Almighty will be greater than that.”

He added, “I also urge my brothers to pray and supplicate to Allah. I urge my brothers, the preachers, to dedicate Friday sermons to Gaza… and to pressure governments peacefully without any harm, whether through peaceful protests or any form of sit-ins, to stop this aggression.”
