Israeli Assassination of Gaza Police Official: Mustafa Barghouti Analyzes the Cause
Watan-Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative Mustafa Barghouti commented on the Israeli occupation army’s assassination of the Director of Central Operations of the Palestinian Police in Gaza, Faiq al-Mabhuh.
Barghouti said in an interview with Al Jazeera that Israel assassinated Faiq al-Mabhuh because he thwarted the Israeli project of organizing links with villages by contacting Palestinian tribes in the Gaza Strip.
He added that the tribes, in turn, refused to deal with the occupation, noting the targeting of the police, which does not fight the occupation but is concerned with maintaining security.
He pointed out that Israel wants to create rampant chaos in the Gaza Strip, confirming that the central goal of the occupation is to displace Palestinians from their land, which must be thwarted.
Barghouti noted that everything that happens confirms the failure of the occupation’s policy, which will not succeed in achieving its goals.

The Gaza government’s media office reported that the Israeli occupation army committed a new crime when it assassinated Colonel Faiq al-Mabhuh, who coordinates with tribes and UNRWA to deliver and secure humanitarian aid to northern Gaza. Colonel al-Mabhuh was engaged in purely civilian and humanitarian work, and he should have been protected and not targeted under international law.
It added that the occupation’s commission of such crimes, massacres, killing civilians, and targeting humanitarian workers confirms without doubt its efforts to spread chaos and disorder in the Gaza Strip, and to prevent the facilitation of humanitarian aid to hundreds of thousands of hungry people in Gaza and the north.
It pointed out that the execution of this assassination came two days after the success of efforts to deliver 15 aid trucks to northern Gaza after four months of obstruction by the occupation, indicating that the occupation is determined to pursue a policy of starvation and depriving the population of food despite its scarcity so far.

Hamas added: “This terrorist crime, by targeting the civilian police protected under international humanitarian law, is further evidence of the Nazi enemy’s quest to spread chaos, undermine societal peace in the sector, and perpetuate the state of famine suffered by our people, as part of a plan of genocide and the displacement of our people from their land.”
