Watan-News of the dismissal of two senior staff members from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dominated headlines in Hebrew media over the past 24 hours, with indications that his wife Sarah is the reason behind it.
Channel 12 News reported that the government spokesperson, Elan Levy, has left his position over a week ago due to a tweet that caused a diplomatic crisis with the British Foreign Office.
The channel confirmed that Levy’s suspension was a matter of time due to pressure from the Prime Minister’s wife weeks ago to dismiss him.
The government spokesperson’s tweet
The official had commented on a request from the British Foreign Secretary, urging Israel to allow more trucks to enter Gaza. In a tweet on his (X) account, Levy said, “I would like to inform you that there are no restrictions on the entry of food, water, and medicine into the territory,” adding in the now-deleted post, “You can test us, send another 100 trucks daily to Kerem Shalom, and we will allow them in.”
As a result of the tweet, the British Foreign Office contacted its Israeli counterpart to inquire whether Levy’s stance represented the official position of the occupation government, prompting the Israeli Foreign Ministry to clarify the position and subsequently suspend the duties of the government spokesperson.
The channel confirmed that it had information indicating that Levy’s tweet was only a pretext and that Sarah Netanyahu was pushing hard for his dismissal because he had participated in a demonstration against judicial reforms before the war.
Throughout the early months of the war, Levy was a frequent guest on international media outlets and was responsible for Israeli propaganda in English.
However, messages suddenly reached a special group of Prime Minister’s office staff via WhatsApp.
These messages revealed that Levy had participated in a demonstration organized before the war, and since then, Sarah had been pressing for his dismissal, according to the channel.
The “charming advisor”
Hebrew media buzzed with another close figure to Netanyahu who was dismissed, a consultant in the office of the Israeli Prime Minister.
The charming advisor is named Gal Dabush, whom Channel 11 confirmed that her termination has raised question marks within the Prime Minister’s office until now.
Although Dabush was one of the most distinguished elements, Sarah Netanyahu did not welcome her in her husband’s office, which may be related to feminine intrigues.
The advisor appeared younger, and her image suggested possible female jealousy, which led to her unjustified dismissal.
The channel explicitly mentioned that Sarah had requested the termination of Dabush’s work in her husband’s office.
The advisor pointed out that Dabush had worked throughout the past year within Netanyahu’s very close team.
Dabush requested explanations for the reasons for her dismissal, but she did not receive an answer and moved to work in the office of Minister of Transportation Meri Regev, indicating that her dismissal from Netanyahu’s office was not due to incompetence.
