Watan-The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth confirmed that officials in the American administration no longer have confidence in the Israeli occupation’s ability to achieve any gains in the war on Gaza.
The newspaper, in a report translated by Watan, stated that Washington is now concerned about the plans of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to invade Rafah and is not prepared to risk a new military operation.
While Washington claims it is keen to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe, the significant support it provides to the occupation is greater than expected, leading to a high degree of dissatisfaction with Israeli war policies.
Harsh statements from the Israeli Defense Minister
Harsh statements from the Israeli Defense Minister were also mentioned by Yedioth Ahronoth, noting that the United States has directed harsh statements towards Israel, specifically from Americans Sullivan, Austin, Blinken, and Burns, during meetings with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
On the other hand, Reuters quoted an unnamed official from the US State Department as saying that the Israeli occupation leadership had briefed the United States on “some aspects” of the Israeli plan for a possible attack on Rafah, but a comprehensive attack has not been seen yet.
This comes amid tensions in US-Israeli relations over the military operation that the occupation intends to carry out in the city of Rafah.
Proposal for the deployment of Arab forces
The White House is calling for the preparation of a humanitarian plan to evacuate displaced persons and residents before invading Rafah, and there is talk of deploying Arab forces within the Gaza Strip whose mission would be to enforce law and order and secure humanitarian aid convoys.
The war on the Gaza Strip has reached its 176th day, coinciding with the escalation of the occupation army’s attacks, resulting in the martyrdom of 82 Palestinians and the injury of 100 others in airstrikes targeting the cities of Gaza, Jabalia in the north of the Strip, Deir al-Balah in the center, Rafah, and Khan Yunis in the south.
Fierce clashes are taking place between Palestinian resistance and occupation forces west of Gaza City and in the eastern areas of Khan Yunis, with the resistance confirming significant human and military losses inflicted on the Israeli army.
