The withdrawal of occupation forces from Al-Shifa Medical Complex

Watan-In a surprising move, the Israeli occupation army withdrew completely from inside Al-Shifa Medical Complex and its surroundings west of Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip.

The occupation forces headed south, specifically towards a camp where tanks and bulldozers were stationed, in the area between the neighborhoods of Sheikh Ajleen and Tel Al-Hawa.

The discovery of hundreds of bodies

This came after a two-week operation to storm and besiege the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, during which hundreds of bodies were found inside the complex and in the surrounding area.

The withdrawal of the occupation forces was not peaceful, but it coincided with gunfire and shelling from tanks towards residential buildings around the medical complex.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza stated in a statement that dozens of martyrs’ bodies, some of them decomposed, were recovered from inside the Al-Shifa Medical Complex and its surroundings.

It said that the occupation army withdrew from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex after setting its buildings on fire and completely disabling it, indicating that the extent of the damage inside the complex and the surrounding buildings is very significant.

Charred bodies

Video footage showed charred bodies of martyrs scattered in the streets and roads surrounding the Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

Hundreds of martyrs’ bodies were found in the complex and the surrounding streets following the withdrawal of the occupation forces.

The occupation forces demolished the buildings of the medical complex, causing it to be completely out of service, and caused extensive damage to the complex and the surrounding buildings.

Following the Israeli withdrawal, hundreds of Palestinians flocked to inspect the damage to the complex buildings, while some families rushed to evacuate the wounded and patients who were trapped inside the hospital.

The Israeli army acknowledged, according to its radio quoting a military source, that the Al-Shifa Complex would not return to being a hospital due to the extensive damage it had suffered.
