Israeli Minister Calls for Execution of Palestinian Prisoners: Escalating Tensions in the Occupied Territories

Watan-Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, continues his extremist statements and calls against Palestinians, including those who have been arrested and overcrowded in occupation prisons.

Ben Gvir, in a new incitement, called for the execution of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons, considering it “the right solution to confront the problem of prison overcrowding.”

This comes as the Gaza government media office announced that the occupation has arrested more than five thousand Palestinians since the start of the war on Gaza.

The extremist Israeli minister wrote on his official account on the “X” platform that he is pleased with the government’s approval of his proposal, which allows the occupation army to build 936 additional prisons for what he described as “security prisoners.”

He added that building new prisons will partially alleviate the overcrowding crisis in prisons, and continued inciting that the death penalty for prisoners is the right solution to the prison problem.

5000 detainees from Gaza since the beginning of the war

Following the statements of the extremist Israeli minister, the Gaza government media office announced that the occupation army has arrested more than 5,000 Palestinians since the beginning of its continuous destructive war on the strip over 6 months ago.

The office stated that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to the worst forms of retaliatory measures aimed at depriving them of their most basic rights.

It reported that the Israeli occupation arrested more than 5,000 prisoners from the Gaza Strip alone during the war, bringing the number of prisoners inside occupation prisons to nearly ten thousand.

Urgent call to the international community

The international community was called upon to shoulder its moral, humanitarian, and legal responsibilities and to intervene urgently to protect the prisoners.

International and human rights organizations were also urged to exert all efforts for the urgent release of all prisoners, especially child prisoners, female prisoners, and patients deprived of treatment by the occupation.

Forced disappearance of Gaza prisoners

Palestinian and international human rights institutions accuse Israel of practicing forced disappearance against Gaza prisoners, not disclosing their numbers, places, and conditions of detention, simultaneously with media reports of the killing of some of them due to torture.
