Inside the Al-Qassam Brigades’ Ambush: Unveiling the Operation near Qalqilya
the Al-Qassam Ambush

Watan-The Al Jazeera channel aired footage it obtained of an ambush carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades on April 7th near the village of Prophet Elias, east of the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank. The ambush resulted in two injuries, one of them an Israeli soldier.

The footage showed the stages of preparing the execution plan, luring, and withdrawal. In a segment of the video, one of the resistance fighters is seen wearing black gloves and drawing on a paper in front of him the stages of the operation. An electronic rosary and an open copy of the Quran were seen beside him, along with an aerial map of the area, while a member of the Al-Qassam Brigades explained the plan.

The resistance ambush in the village of Prophet Elias was followed by scenes from three cameras: the first from inside the booby-trapped vehicle, the second outside it, and the third with the ambush executor. It showed the targeting of the bus, its stoppage, and then targeting it again, with someone heard saying “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah.”

Discovery and Withdrawal

The subsequent scene documented the moment of withdrawal of the executor and luring the soldiers, and after 10 minutes, the first force of the occupation army arrived, followed by the second, third, and finally the fourth. Then came the ambulance crews, and it seems that the occupation soldiers discovered the ambush and withdrew from the area.

In another scene, the moment of detonating an explosive device is shown, where thick white smoke rises from the location captured from a high place.

On the same day, the Israeli ambulance service announced the injury of two Israelis in a shooting attack targeting a bus on Street 55, near the village of Prophet Elias east of the city of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank.

Days before this operation, another operation took place in Qalqilya, where four Israeli police officers were injured in a ramming attack at the entrance to the town of Kochav Ya’ir near the town of Taybeh inside the Green Line, while the police announced that they killed the perpetrator of the operation.
