Watan-A group of Turks distributed sweets to passersby in front of the Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul, celebrating the Turkish tourist Hasan Skalan, who carried out a stabbing operation in Jerusalem.

Footage showed young people holding a picture of the perpetrator with the words “Martyr of Jerusalem” written on it, along with Palestinian flags, distributing sweets to passersby.

What does the tradition of distributing sweets for the soul of the deceased mean?

It’s worth noting that distributing sweets for the soul of the deceased is an old Turkish tradition. The family of the deceased usually presents a box of chocolates or any kind of sweets during condolences.

The purpose of this gesture is to offer charity for the soul of the deceased and to declare the family’s patience and acceptance of God’s decree.
