UAE Opposition Group Slams Mohamed bin Zayed’s Regime in Blistering Statement
“Change Movement” Accuses Ruler of Abandoning Sovereignty, Fueling Wars, and Undermining UAE's Future.
Watan-The UAE opposition group, Change Movement, has issued a scathing political statement condemning the ruling regime led by President Mohamed bin Zayed. The statement warns that bin Zayed and his inner circle are steering the UAE towards disaster.
The unprecedented statement, titled “He Who Fails to Protect His Land… Cannot Be Trusted with His Nation’s Future”, harshly criticized the UAE regime’s neglect of national sovereignty over the three islands—Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb—occupied by Iran since 1971.
It accused the regime of failing to take any serious legal or international measures to reclaim the islands, remaining silent and submissive to Iran while cracking down on any domestic voice demanding their return, and amplifying those normalizing ties with the occupiers.
UAE’s Regional Interventions: Fueling Wars, Backing Coups
The statement further condemned the UAE’s aggressive interventions in Arab states. It highlighted how, while abandoning its own territory, the regime actively funds wars and coups in the region.
The Change Movement pointed to the UAE’s military and financial support for Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti”, involving covert arms smuggling through Libya and Chad aimed at empowering a rogue militia, looting gold resources, and securing trade influence in central Africa.
In Libya, the UAE was accused of escalating war and division by backing Khalifa Haftar’s militias against the UN-recognized government, launching drone strikes, and violating the UN arms embargo to turn Libya into a sphere of Emirati-French influence.
In Yemen, the UAE is blamed for waging a destructive war, supporting suspicious secession efforts, and creating separatist militias like the “Security Belt”, promoting the division of the country while looting ports and islands such as Socotra, and establishing secret prisons to torture dissenters.
In Somalia, the UAE allegedly exploited poverty and instability to finance coups, build unauthorized military bases, and back militias to spread chaos and secure control over ports and trade routes.
Opposition: UAE Foreign Policy Serves Foreign Powers, Betrays Nation
The statement also condemned the UAE’s foreign policy as conspiratorial and subservient, serving a hidden alliance with regional and global powers—chief among them, Israel.
Ultimately, the opposition group labeled the UAE regime a regional agent of chaos, warning that its actions are designed to ensure its grip on power at the cost of national integrity.
The statement concluded with urgent demands to hold Mohamed bin Zayed’s regime accountable for abandoning national sovereignty, to withdraw from all foreign conflicts, to release political prisoners, and to establish an independent national committee to reassess the UAE’s foreign and security policies.
“The Mohamed bin Zayed regime has sacrificed Emirati sovereignty and harnessed the state’s resources to ignite wars against our brothers, serving foreign agendas. We affirm that this regime has lost its national legitimacy, and it is our moral and patriotic duty to resist its policies until the UAE is restored to its people—a state of justice, not betrayal.”
