Palestinian Nurse Confronts Husbands Loss During Hospital Shift

Watan – In a deeply moving scene, a Palestinian nurse received the news of her husband’s martyrdom while she was on duty at Al-Shifa Hospital, following the brutal Israeli airstrikes on the Jabalia market in the Gaza Strip. She discovered his body among the injured who were brought to the hospital where she was treating the wounded.

Amid the chaos, a video began to circulate on social media, capturing the heart-wrenching moment of the nurse’s realization. Adorned in her professional attire, she poignantly raises her index fingers in a symbol of victory, her voice heavy with emotion as she declares, “My husband became a martyr while I was treating patients.” As the video unfolds, it becomes evident that she spots her daughter, to whom she tearfully conveys, “Your father has died.”

Subsequently, the young girl rushes to embrace her mother, their shared sorrow palpable.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that reports suggest the nurse’s husband had been actively participating in rescue operations during the bombing, underscoring the profound personal sacrifices of those bravely serving on the front lines.

Statement from the Palestinian Health Ministry

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that, as of 3:45 PM on Monday, the total number of martyrs and injured in the conflict reached 576 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip witnessed 560 martyrs and approximately 2,900 injured. In the West Bank, there were 16 martyrs, including three children.

Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, the Health Minister, urgently called upon the international community to intervene, emphasizing the deliberate targeting of medical facilities, ambulances, and healthcare professionals by Israeli forces. Such actions, she stressed, are in direct contravention of international laws and conventions.
