U.S. Diplomats Warn President Biden on Israeli Offensive in Gaza
Watan-U.S. diplomatic officials in the Arab world have reportedly issued stark warnings to President Joe Biden concerning the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
According to CNN, the network obtained a cable from American diplomats cautioning the U.S. President about the growing Arab anger over the perceived U.S. support for the Israeli military’s brutal campaign in Gaza.
The American officials are said to have intensified aid efforts to Gaza, while the U.S. administration resisted calls for a ceasefire. Washington, as per CNN, pressured for a temporary halt to hostilities for humanitarian reasons, allowing more aid to flow into Gaza and enabling civilians to escape the conflict.
In recent days, U.S. allies in the Arab world have expressed deep frustration with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Blaring Warnings for the United States: What Did They Encompass?
The warnings emphasized that robust U.S. support for the destructive and deadly Israeli military campaign in Gaza could result in losing the hearts of Arab populations for an entire generation.
A cable from the U.S. Embassy in the Jordanian capital, Amman, stated, “After discussions with a wide range of reliable and credible sources, it has become clear that we are losing severely in the battle of messaging.
CNN reported on another cable from the U.S. Embassy in Oman, sent by the second-highest-ranking U.S. official in Muscat, distributed to the National Security Council at the White House, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The cable addressed “warnings about the increasing wave of anti-U.S. sentiment sweeping the Middle East,” and CNN noted that they reached out to the U.S. State Department for a comment, receiving “no response.”
President Joe Biden is facing mounting domestic and international pressure regarding U.S. support for Israel amid images of destruction in Gaza and the painful humanitarian crisis in the region.
