Heartfelt Gratitude: Palestinian Message to Egyptian Fruit Vendor “Uncle Rabie”

Watan-A video clip has been circulating on social media platforms showing a Palestinian man expressing gratitude and appreciation to the Egyptian fruit vendor “Uncle Rabie Hussein.” He confirmed to him that the oranges have arrived, and they are awaiting the help of 110 million Egyptians, according to his words.

The Egyptian fruit vendor, Rabie Hussein, from Upper Egypt, received wide praise from social media users after appearing in a video throwing oranges onto aid trucks heading to the besieged Gaza Strip.

A Gaza resident appeared in the video and thanked “Uncle Rabie” for his initiative, which impacted everyone, Arabs, and Palestinians alike. He confirmed the phrase “the oranges have arrived,” indicating the anticipation for the help from the rest of the Egyptians.

Social media users widely interacted with the Palestinian’s message to Uncle Rabie. Some wrote: “The oranges have arrived with the sincere feelings of Uncle Rabie. His intention was genuine, and God honored it. He delivered the oranges to Gaza with feelings of solidarity.”

Many users emphasized that the message of thanks is morale-boosting but doesn’t necessarily mean that the trucks managed to enter Gaza: “This is a message of gratitude for solidarity, but it is illogical that the trucks that were in Cairo reached Rafah and unloaded, and also the oranges reached our people there!”

One user, Um Yasser, commented: “You are proving the lie of Rafah crossing being open, folks. If someone says the crossing is open, they will tell you it’s open, and the proof is that the oranges have reached the people there!”

Mohamed Lotfy wrote: “Believe me, dear brother, we are all Uncle Rabie, and some of us are heartbroken and saddened for you, but the oppressors prevent us from even reaching the first Sinai, let alone Rafah. So forgive us for our shortcomings. May Allah grant you victory and strengthen you with soldiers from Him, as He is the best guardian and the best helper.”

Uncle Rabie had previously stated that he often cries for the situation of Gaza’s children and hides from his own children at home so they don’t see him overwhelmed by the horrifying scenes that come out daily from the besieged territory, which has been subjected to Israeli bombardment and siege for many years.

The simple Egyptian man, who received wide praise from social media users, said that what affected him the most was what happened at “Al Mawasah Hospital,” according to a recorded clip monitored by a local platform.

Rabie Hussein expressed his willingness to sacrifice himself and enter Gaza, even if it means martyrdom, saying, “I am 53 years old, I still have 10 more years to live, and I am ready to sacrifice myself.”
