U.S. Airstrikes on Yemen Kill 61 Civilians as Houthis Target American Warships

American warplanes hit water infrastructure in Al-Hudaydah, while Houthi forces escalate attacks in the Red Sea amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli military operations.

Watan-The Ministry of Health and Environment of the Houthi government (not internationally recognized) announced on Wednesday that “61 civilians have been martyred and 139 others injured” as a result of the American aggression on Yemen since March 15.

American airstrikes on Yemeni provinces continued today, with U.S. warplanes targeting a water tank in the village of Al-Sanif in the Al-Mansuriyah district of the coastal province of Al-Hudaydah in western Yemen, according to Al-Masirah TV, which is affiliated with the Houthis.

The same source added that “the enemy’s targeting of the Al-Sanif water tank and the water foundation’s project and building in Al-Mansuriyah district disrupted water services for more than 50,000 citizens.” This is the second attack on the district in less than 24 hours; American warplanes reportedly struck the water foundation’s project and building again on Tuesday evening.

A statement from Houthi military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree, issued early Wednesday, said that “the Yemeni armed forces targeted hostile warships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones, including the American aircraft carrier Truman.”

He added that this was the third engagement within the past 24 hours, and it continued until the time of the statement’s release (1:00 a.m. Wednesday). The statement affirmed that “Yemeni armed forces operations will escalate against the American enemy by targeting its warships within the declared zone of operations, and that operations against the Israeli enemy aim to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people. U.S. Strikes in Yemen Continue as Houthis Target Western Ships and Israel

Since mid-March, the U.S. military has continued to target cities and sites in Yemen, leading to dozens of casualties—including women and children—along with destruction of residential buildings and power outages in some areas. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will be held responsible for every shot fired by the Houthis in Yemen.

Since November 2023, the Houthi movement has launched attacks using ballistic missiles, drones, and naval vessels against Israeli, American, and British ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea. They have also targeted Israeli sites in the occupied Palestinian territories, in response to what they describe as the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
