Watan – In a move targeting Al Jazeera for exposing Israel’s crimes against the Gaza Strip, the French agency “EFE” confirmed that the Israeli occupation government has prepared an emergency system to temporarily close media outlets whose “information harms national security” during the ongoing war with the resistance in Gaza.
The Israeli Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with the Israeli Defense Ministry and security forces, has drafted this emergency procedure. The final approval from the government is expected in the coming hours. Once the cabinet gives its nod, the order to shut down Al Jazeera will be immediately effective.
This decision came in response to the interception by the American destroyer “USS Carney” of several missiles and drones launched by the Houthi group in Yemen. The Pentagon spokesperson, Patrick Ryder, mentioned that it was unclear what the intended target of the missiles was, but it was likely aimed at locations in Israel.
The Israeli Communications Minister, Shalom Karhi, stated, “Israel is at war. On land, in the air, at sea, and in ideas… We will not allow broadcasts that harm the state’s security.” He alleged that Al Jazeera’s “inciting broadcasts against Israel” serve the interests of Hamas, ISIS, and other terrorist organizations by promoting violence against Israel. He further claimed that the channel disseminates “secret information.”
The emergency procedure will be in effect for at least three months during the current state of war. The order to close Al Jazeera will initially last for 30 days, with the possibility of a 30-day extension.
Al Jazeera has been at the forefront of exposing the Israeli occupation’s brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip. The channel has been broadcasting images of destruction and crimes inside the strip 24/7, deploying a vast journalistic apparatus that surpasses most other media outlets. Al Jazeera was also the first media entity to visit the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, where an Israeli missile strike resulted in the martyrdom of 470 Palestinians, predominantly children and women.
