Israeli Occupation Seeks Exit Strategies Amidst Gaza War: Qatari Proposal and Controversial Hamas Departure Clause

Watan-It appears that the Israeli occupation is seeking any safe way out of the war it is waging in the Gaza Strip, amidst the significant losses it is suffering on the ground.

The Israeli media has resorted to falsification and fabrication in an attempt to save face after the failure of the goals set by the occupying army in its war on the Gaza Strip.

Israeli officials have revealed what they describe as a new Qatari proposal consisting of several stages to end the war in the Gaza Strip. The Hebrew Channel “13” quoted Israeli officials as saying that a new proposal had been submitted to Israel by Qatar to release all the kidnapped individuals (Israeli captives in Gaza) in several stages, with most of them occurring near the end of the deal and after the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the sector.

The channel mentioned that the proposal includes the exit of Hamas leaders from the Gaza Strip.

In a related context, the Hebrew website “Walla” quoted a prominent Israeli official as saying that the Qatari proposal regarding the prisoners and detainees held by the Hamas movement is not much different from previous proposals. However, it includes, in its initial stage, the exchange of prisoners, with the Israeli withdrawal from the sector to conclude the deal.

The official explained that all the proposals regarding Israeli prisoners ultimately lead to ending the war in the Gaza Strip.

The website pointed out that the “War Cabinet” is supposed to discuss the international efforts made to release the prisoners, especially with the arrival of an Israeli delegation in Cairo to discuss the same file.

He said that the main decision that the War Cabinet must make is to approve the prisoner exchange deal, which ultimately leads to a ceasefire and the end of the ongoing war in Gaza, as well as the Israeli withdrawal from the sector.

The provision regarding the departure of Hamas leaders from Gaza is the most prominent and controversial aspect of what Israeli officials have been discussing concerning the ongoing situation.

The Israeli military had identified the elimination of Hamas authority in Gaza as one of the objectives of the war on Gaza.

Hamas Denies Israeli Claims

In response to Israeli claims, the Hamas movement denied the existence of a Qatari initiative that includes, among its clauses, the departure of the movement’s leaders from the Gaza Strip.

Osama Hamdan, a leader in the movement, stated during a press conference on Wednesday in the Lebanese capital, Beirut: “In principle, there is no initiative of this kind.”

He added: “The people have not left their land, so what about the resistance defending the people? Talking about the departure of the resistance and leaving its land is baseless. The idea of disarming the resistance is naive and does not reflect an understanding of the realities.”

Hamdan considered the Israeli media’s talk about this initiative as “a process of deception and misleading to pacify the angry street, especially the families of prisoners who watch their sons being killed by the occupation without (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu caring about them.”

Hamdan reiterated his movement’s insistence that it “will not accept any prisoner exchange initiative unless it leads to a complete end to the war on Gaza.”

He continued: “Until now, there is no talk about any initiatives. We are committed to our position, and we have presented a clear vision to the mediators, and this vision is the basis for any ideas or initiatives in this context.”
