Gaza Military Operation Fallout: Expert Analysis, Strategic Implications, and Anticipated Consequences

Watan-The military operation in Gaza has taken the forefront in the events concerning ground battles between Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation army, which suffered a significant blow, resulting in the death of 21 soldiers.

Commenting on this operation, military and strategic expert General Fayez al-Duweiri stated that the implications and consequences of what happened would be serious and significant, impacting both the military and political aspects. The incident is also expected to increase demands for ending the war within Israeli society.

Al-Duweiri explained that the Israeli army’s methodology involves destroying all built-up areas to create a relatively safe zone for its soldiers, utilizing air and artillery strikes, as well as explosive operations.

According to al-Duweiri, the specifications of the buildings targeted in the resistance operation likely led to their being rigged with explosives. The process of rigging can take hours, and the resistance carefully chose the right time to carry out the attack.

He clarified that the quantity of explosives used in the rigging, considering the scale and intensity of the incident, could be hundreds of kilograms. The RPG (Rocket-Propelled Grenade) fired by the resistance towards the building acted as a spark to ignite the fuse, leading to the massive explosion.

The significant number of casualties among reserve soldiers is expected to increase the repercussions of the incident, according to al-Duweiri.

What comes after the operation?

Al-Duweiri anticipated that the repercussions of this incident would be serious on two levels: an increase in criminality, destruction, and targeting civilians to alleviate the anger and hatred resulting from the incident, and political and military consequences. These consequences are expected to be greater than those of the truck explosion that carried explosives, killing and injuring around 30 soldiers.

He also predicted that this incident would amplify the voices of war opponents, as the effects would exert pressure towards stopping the military operation, exposing its failure and the deceptive claims made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

How did the operation unfold? The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the operation, leading to the death of 21 soldiers, took place in the al-Maghazi camp. The incident occurred when soldiers rigged two buildings in the camp. Elements from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) then launched anti-tank missiles, causing the explosive devices to detonate and the buildings to collapse on the Israeli soldiers.

The explosion that resulted in the soldiers’ deaths occurred 600 meters from the border, and the rescue operations for the injured under the rubble continued for long hours the previous night. The tank crew securing the soldiers at the incident site was directly hit by the Palestinian fighters’ shell.
