Watan – Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, announced on Wednesday the thwarting of an alleged assassination plot against the National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir. The agency believes the plan was orchestrated by Iran.

Israeli media reported a statement from Shin Bet revealing the discovery of what they described as an Iranian-backed terror infrastructure. This network, active in the West Bank region, aimed to carry out various terror attacks, including the assassination of Minister Ben Gvir.

During the investigation, five individuals were arrested, including three Palestinians: Murad Kamamaga (47), Hassan Majerima (34), and Ziad Shanti (45). The other two detainees, Hamad Hamadi (23) and Yusef Hamad (18), are Israeli citizens.

Shin Bet’s investigation revealed that Murad and Hassan were operating under the guidance of an official based in Jordan, acting on behalf of Iranian security officials.

According to the alleged plot, this individual tasked the duo with smuggling illegal weapons into Israel and gathering intelligence on security personnel and high-profile public figures, including former Knesset member Yehuda Glick.

Shin Bet stated that the Iranian strategy involved recruiting Israelis, some with criminal backgrounds, to promote terrorist activities on criminal platforms in exchange for money.

In response, Minister Ben Gvir thanked the security agencies, stating, “We will continue to work fearlessly and with even greater determination to bring about a radical change in the conditions of terrorist detention in prisons, to continue the fight against terrorism, to ensure the rights of prayer and Jewish sovereignty on the Temple Mount, for the safety of the Holy Sanctuary, and to ensure the safety and security of Israeli citizens.”
